1st years, This Way

Jessica was always thrilled once the first years were turned over, and they were finally hers. Her prefects already knew the drill, they rose without having to be told and went to work gathering up their students and leaving her to her work.

She grinned as she looked through her new recruits. The Flames had taken special notice of one in particular, and Jessica relished the thought of spending the rest of the year with her. The first year is always the most fun…Though I suppose I’ll have to make sure the older students don’t go too far…

“First years, all of you should take heed and make yourselves comfortable over here.” She oriented herself closer to the entrance that would take them toward their tower. “Please refrain from anything that might get you--in trouble, while we wait.”

Everyone looks tense, maybe I should say a joke, Raven thought to herself. "Ahh~ but Professor, a little nonsense now and then, is relished by the wisest men!" Raven melodically said aloud to the Coven Head. She heard a few giggles here and there by the other first years, but she did what she was told. Once she was in ther designated place, Raven turned to the other first years around her and started telling jokes and made a few witty comments.

Jessica turned on Raven as she spoke up. She smiled as she made her wisecrack and watched her return to her coven mates. Yes, a little nonsense indeed...

She took out her wand and sent the spell across the room, hitting the girl in the back where a pair of large, black, leathery wings emerged.

"I have no problems with nonsense, young one," She sneered in Raven's direction. "And if you are so wise, you'll figure out how to fix yours."

Jessica commanded her students attention and directed them to follow her toward their coven. Silently, they traveled south through the gardens and then right until they reached the heavy wooden door of their coven tower. Jessica took out her wand once more, turning to look Raven in the eye, and then tapped the enormous shield of Ceridwen with the tip.

"Enter," she barked at them. Once they were all situated inside she turned once again to Raven. "I see you have a quick tongue, my dear. You will find that I am not one to cross. Let this be the first lesson you learn while in my house."

She turned on the rest of her first years. "This is our main commons. I will leave you here to get situated. The prefects will be down shortly to escort you to your dormitory. Relax and familiarize yourselves with your new home and welcome."

Jessica took out her wand and turned back to Raven. "Consider tonight when next we meet..." She flicked her wand and the girls wings once again disappeared.

"Goodnight students." Jessica left them and disappeared into her office.
