Herbology is a “hands on” activity, and as such you will learn one of the finer points of this activity, which is cultivating and growing your own plants. This will be an ongoing project throughout your first school year, and will count towards 20% of your final grade.
There are seven varieties of plants found on the Institute grounds that can be cultivated. Maybe of these plants can be used for potions, and so those that are grown will, once they have matured, be used by our Potions Mistress for just that.
Examine the list below. Select 4 plants to cultivate and locate them on the grounds. Mark their position, and during the next class we will harvest the plants you have selected. You are free to consult the herbology section in the Library, or you may use the reference material here in the Greenhouse, to determine where you may expect to find these plants.
The seven types are:
Aconite (also known as monkshood and wolfsbane)
Dittany
Flitterbloom
Fire Seed Bush
Goosegrass
Moondew
Valerian
Good luck, and be ready to dig come Wednesday!
