Lina walked into her Haven, the Library, with a huge smile on her face. Why haven't I been here yet? she wondered as she kicked herself mentally when she saw the rows upon rows of her first, and so far only, love...books.

It took her a moment to take in the splendor of the Book Haven before she walked up to an older gentleman with what looked like thinning hair and glasses. "Excuse me, sir?" she asked with almost uncertainty, "what's the limit of checking out books?"

Trevor had seen the student not long after she entered the library, and instantly recognized the look on her face as she scanned the cavernous room. Ah, yes. She's one of us.

"Limit on checking out books? Hummmm..." He made a great show of being deep in thought. "Well, we had a young gentleman in here the other night who checked out nearly a dozen books on divination--which I imagine will keep him busy for the better part of the year."

Grinning, Trevor told the girl, "The limit is whatever you are comfortable with, Miss." He then raised his finger, as if to scold. "However, I do feel 50 or more is pushing a manageable limit unless you are using time charms." He laid his hand upon the desk he stood next to and asked, "What may I help you find?"

Knowing that there's no real limit on the number of books to check out put a bigger smile on Lina's face. Back home, at the Muggle libraries, the limit was six books and that nearly drove her insane; six, dictionary thick, books would only last four days, and that's if someone bothered her.

When asked if he could help her find anything, she nearly bombarded him with book titles upon book titles, but she had to hold back, remember what you're here for Lina; everything else is secondary. "I was wondering where the Herbology section is. You see, we have to select four plants," she said handing him the paper of the seven plant, " to cultivate and locate them on the grounds. I just want to learn more about them before I select my four."

Smiling, Trevor motioned to the girl. "Follow me, Miss." He walked into the center of the large, open, semi-circular room and pointed to a section of the wall in the NNW corner. "Along this floor, over here--" He walked in that direction, "you'll find the general herbology texts." Trevor stopped short of the overhang that represented the 3rd Floor walk and pointed up.

"And up on the 3rd, we have the texts that pertain to specific species of plants and herbs." He turned to Lina. "Very close to a couple of hundred volumes if you decide to read though them all."

Lina smiled at the kind man, "Thank you so much." She was about to turn and go towards all of the general herbology texts were located before she stopped mid-step. "um, Are there books about previous students here in the library too? Like if they were on a school team of some sort?" She looked up and faced him, "if there's not it's ok."

Trevor chuckled. "You shouldn't be so embarrassed to ask for something, young miss." Curling a finger--indicating Lina should follow--Trevor walked a little ways to the west end of the library, stopping before a circular staircase descending through the floor.

"That leads to the West Reading Rooms," said Trevor, "and the General Reference #1 collection." He turned to Lina. "Reference #1 has everything on the school since it's founding--and that includes enrollment records as well as attendance in school-supported activities."

He crossed his arms momentarily, then brought his right index finger up to his lips. "If you're looking for sports, that would be located in the cabinets on the right--as you enter the room--and about 2/3s of the way down the wall." Trevor tapped his lower lip four times, then dropped his arms. "They're all well marked by activity, century, decade, year, and coven." Leaning against the stairway railing, Trevor said, "Should you need anything, please see me or one of the staff."

Lina smiled at the book guru, "Thank you so much," she exclaimed as she gave him a short bow, "and don't worry, I will. I'm making it my goal to read most of the books here before I graduate here." Lina was beaming with excitement about the goal she set for herself. She figured if she stayed at school over a few winter vacations, she would eventually finish the first floor.

Evangelina spent hours upon hours reading up on the various plants. Before she could think about anything else, she still had to choose her four plants. She started to narrow down the to the things she liked; she enjoyed warm weather, even though the average high in Vancouver was around 71 degrees.

She liked that the Dittany plant grew in warm places, and that historically, it was used for cordial and cephalic ailments, to help resist poison and combat putrefaction, and to be useful in malignant and pestilential fevers. She also liked that it was a powerful restorative. Its use makes fresh skin grow over a wound, and after application, the wound seems several days old

Lina also liked the Valerian herb. What she liked best was that the herb was used to work on the nervous, digestive, and respiratory systems as a stimulant, antispasmodic, stomachic, sedative, analeptic, carminative, and nervine.

Just on the fact that the Goosegrass plant grew in the spring, her favorite time of the year, she decided that she would grow it as part of her Herbology assignment. The fact that the plant also had several health benefits was a plus.

Her final plant choice was the Moondew plant. Lina remembered this plant the most by the story her father would tell her and her sisters. A prince once went through great lengths to find the plant used it in a Wiggenweld Potion to awaken a princess who had been given the Draught of Living Death. Remembering the story brought up feelings of being homesick.

She had to pause what she was doing for a second to keep her sad feelings at bay. Lost in her own thoughts, she figured that she should check out some books and figure out where she would find them, and how to grow them. Since they are used in potions, maybe I should ask Professor Sladen for help, she thought. As Lina's coven head and one of her professors, she was sure that she would help her.

Picking out four books, one for each plant, she walked over to get the books checked out, but not before glancing over to the section where the school's sport's history was located, I'll look there later; for now, I'll concentrate on school.

Walking up to Mr. Parkman, she softly said, "I'll like to check these out please."
