Annie was looking so dejected. Kerry knew that feeling; it's like this charm doesn't want us to learn it today, he thought.

He reached over and held Annie in his arms. He didn't say a word, just held her for a long time trying to relax her. "I guess they didn't tell us there would be days like this," he said quietly before giving Annie a tender kiss on the lips.

The pajamas changed instantly into yellow. Kerry like it, but he felt bad because he wanted Annie to be able to get her spell.

She sighed. "You know, if I didn't know better...I'd say someone was playing a cruel joke on me." Annie got up and smoothed her black turtleneck, tucking it neatly back into her skirt. She paced back and forth, concentrating on her breathing. In...two, three, four. Out...two...three...four.

She stopped and leaned up against a bookcase. She knew what was wrong, but there was no way to explain it. Helena kept at it...So can I.

Kerry walked over and gave his sweetie a nice hug. "It seems like we're being tested," he said. "If I didn't know any better I'd say someone charmed the room to be extra hard to work in!"

Kerry pulled out his 1st Year charms book--the one he planed on leaving down here most of the time so they'd have a reference. He began looking for a simple charm to work on, one that Annie could test her spell against.

Then he remembered that bitch Ella and what she did--

"I can try Transfiguro," he said. "I could always stand long nails . . ." Just don't paint them purple, he thought for no reason.

"Here goes," he mumbled. Pointing his wand at his outstretched fingers he said, "Transfiguro."

The good news was Kerry didn't have to worry about his nails--the bad new being nothing happened to them. Oh, great, he thought. You can make stuff invisible, but you can't grow your nails.

And with that Kerry's nails grew out nice and sculptured and . . . stop it! Why the heck was he bothering himself with those thoughts?

"Okay, Annie." He held out his hand. "Your turn."

Annie admired his new fingernails. "Wow. Those are really nice," she teased, holding out her own to compare. "Maybe when we're all done, you can do mine." She winked at him. "Sure about this..."

She moved her position so that she faced him and held up her wand, pointing it at his beautiful nails. Before she had too much time to think about what she was doing, she said, "Finite Incantatem."
