The Watanabe-Cromwell Legacy Emerges

Lina was a little peeved that a fourth year from her own coven didn't allow her to join them and Madam Chai because she wasn't part of the dueling club yet, if she knew I was going to join anyway, why didn't she not just let me come anyway? The only thing that stopped her was because the girl was right; Lina only knew the Leg Locker Curse from her first dueling class and nothing else. Why did she have to be right?

Lina didn't like that everyone was sitting around the main common doing nothing. She knew that her two roommates left to volunteer in other departments, which she would have joined if that girl didn't completely stunned her in her tracks.

After awhile, she just couldn't take it anymore. Lina finally stood up from the stair that she had been sitting on, walked across the common, and finally headed down towards the dungeon. As soon as she made it down the stairs, she found herself in a cold, damp seller-like place, this is a dungeon for you...I guess.

Harold had been getting a few people set up to test their spells/charm/what the hell every ... he was getting tired of being down in the dungeon, mostly because even though it had high ceilings and there lighting wasn't bad, he didn't care to be underground.

It was a bad vibe.

He was about to leave when he saw another girl come down the dungeon steps. Only this one didn't look so much like he was scared--she looked more upset. "Never good, dude," he mumbled to himself.

He approached her slowly. "Hi," he said softly, not wanting to spook her. "I'm Harold." Being friendly he held out his hand. "And you are ...?"

Lina snapped out of her thoughts, when she heard a soft voice. Realizing that she wasn't alone, she looked towards where it came from. The boy, obviously older than she was, held his hand out and introduced himself as Harold. She smiled at her senpai, she took his hand and shook it, "I'm Evangelina, nice to meet you." She released his hand as she did a quick look around. "Um, how come you're down here instead of upstairs like everyone else?" she asked innocently.

Scoffing, Harold said, "It's gonna be a madhouse up there until the prefects get everyone calmed down. And ..." He nodded his head in the direction of a room. From inside girl's voices could be heard, alternating between "Relashio" and "Silencio"--the last finally followed by a long quiet before there was some high pitched squealing ....

"That's why. Couple of people wanted to get their charms out of the way after Wends--I mean, Professor Douglas show everyone what to do." Harold gave Lina a very long, slow going over. "Let me guess, Evangelina: you don't look like you're hiding, so I'm guessing--charms and attack spells?" He smiled as the last few words became public.

Lina looked just as dumbfounded as when she was back in the Great Hall, "how did you know?" Her eyes were doe-like; she was certainly amazed that Harold was able to guess correctly.

Lina didn't wait for him to ask a single question before she spoke up again. "I want to help defend the school, but the only defensive spell that I know is the Leg Locker Curse...that and I can lock and unlock a door." Lina started to become depressed again, and her eyes fell to the floor. "I want to help, but I don't know how."

Oh, another duelist. Harold could never for the life of him understand how he got put into Morrigan; everyone around here was dueling nuts, and all he wanted to do was study and relax. But he didn't let that out.

"Well, how I know ..." He looked around, then whispered, "If you noticed, most of the girls who are scared look scared. You look more--" He picked what he thought would be a proper word. "Crestfallen.

"As for learning something--" He held his arm wide. "Step into my office." He walked a few meters to his left and behind, and just beyond the stairwell was a room, maybe 4 meters by 6, that looked as if it might be used for storage now and again.

"You got your cheat list from Professor Douglas?" When Lina showed him he did, he pulled out his own wand. "Hey, you wanna learn? You gotta practice." He sliced the air a few times. "I'm bored showing those two bimbos how to do things right." He chuckled. "They'll probably kill each other before becoming Death Eater fodder."

Harold jabbed his wand at Lina. "C'mon, Eva." He grinned broadly. "Give it your best."

Lina really didn't want to attack him, but that's what she'll have to do if she's going to duel someone. Taking out her wand, she walked to the other side of the room. She wasn't sure if she should warn him or not, but, in the end, she decided against it. No one warns another before they attack, and with that, her demeanor changed.

The nervous look that was on her face just moments before changed into a more serious look. Her almond eyes narrowed as she did a quick bow, just as he did, and they started their training duel. They stood still for a few seconds, studying each other, before Lina finally made the first move.

With a quick flick of her wrist, she exclaimed, "Relashio!"

Harold was about half ready to shoot off his attack when Evangelina shot off Relashio. Or would have if her wand didn't spark and die. He didn't have to worry about getting blinded: he pretty much had a clear shot--

If the channeling doesn't throw me off, he though.

He took one hard step forward, bringing his wand down in an overhand slicing move.

"Silencio!"

Lina was slightly scared that the older student used an attack that she wasn't familiar with, and if it seemed as if he held back at the last second when she felt the effect of the attack grazed her hair. That was close, she thought as she took a step back.

She decided to do the attack again, to get him to think that she would use only first year spells, a tactic that she saw before, and it worked. She took a step forward with her left leg, and with her left hand, she lifted her wand to attack, "Relashio!"

This Evangelina is quick, Harold thought. But has he caught the first part of her spell he wondered if she were limiting herself Stepping up the ladder like a good first year ....

He decided to mix it up just a little, and did a side flick with his wand hand. "Langlock!" he shouted, just as there was a shower in his face--

(OOC: I'm going to get very confused very quickly with all of these mods, so if or when I mess up, just ignore it.)

Lina started to feel as if Harold really was hold back his attacks. Twice, Lina felt the effect of his attack grazed her, when all she did was stand her ground. She wanted him to take her seriously, but she didn't want to disrupt the duel. She wavered a bit when her second attack hit him. Should I stop? she asked herself, completely unsure if she should, but when he looked at her, waiting for her next attack, Lina decided against it.

If I hit him with this attack, I'll ask if he wants me to end it, she convinced herself as she set up her attack. Lina took a small step to the right then quickly moved her left foot forward. She brought her wand across her body and quickly swung it towards him, "Silencio!"

Harold was liking this. This Evangelina was acting like she wasn't going well--she's got no idea. He was blinking hard; the Relashio left him with spots before his eyes and he was having trouble focusing.

As that's the case, lets mess her up with something simple. Harold jumped a step to the right and thrust his wand at her. "Locomotor Mortis!"

Ummm... that's not called "Holding back"; that's called "SUCKING!"



Harold? Jeez, why didn't your parents just name you Lawrence? You're this close to getting your butt kicked by a girl!

Lina stopped the attack she was about to do and lowered her wand. Harold completely missed her as the Leg Lock curse's effect went and hit the floor...directly in front of him. "Um, Harold?" the girl innocently asked, her demeanor completely changed from a look of a killer to one of a little girl's, "you're not holding back, are you?"

Listening to his answer (OOC: you can say whatever you like, or not, I'll just post my actions later), Lina then asked, "do you want to stop? or at least take a quick break? I know that in a real duel you can't do that, but I think we'll do better after a quick break."

Harold laughed. "Naw, Evangelina, I'm not holding back." He laughed again, because he found being so rusty amusing. "I wish I was doing better, but right now, sucking is about the best I can do."

He whipped the wand back and forth a few times, like he was clearing the air of haze. "I'm just gettin' warmed up, honey." Harold gave Evangelina the "Bring it!" finger wave. "Let me see what ya got! Hit me!"

Lina giggled a bit, "I know I should have mentioned this earlier, but you can call me Lina if you like; everyone else does." Once this was said, her sweet smile vanished from her face, and turned back to the killer look that would come whenever she was serious about something.

Without any hesitation, took a step forward, lifting her wand as she yelled, "Relashio!"

Lina watched as Harold's halfway-made shield blocked some of her attack, but it wasn't good enough as his shield broke. I'll try this one, maybe he'll comeback with something interesting, she thought.

As quickly as she could, Lina took another step forward as she flicked her wand. "Impedimenta!"

Feeling a little out of it, Harold decided to throw caution to the wind and go for something big. Time to do something over the top and stupid, he thought. And I'm the guy that does that--

When Harold's attack did absolutely nothing, Lina, yet again, took another step forward and decided to give it all she could, "Relashio!!"

Harold's attempt at a shield would have worked if Lina didn't put all of her energy into her attack and broke straight through it, having him slide backwards several inches. He was still standing, so Lina figured that she was still ok to duel.

She decided to take a step back, then to the right for a better angle. "Expelliarmus!"

Lina was starting to worry when she felt the effect grazed her cheek, he's starting to warm up, she thought. She, also, was getting a little worried that she'll lose, so she decided to try to finish the duel as soon as possible.

She stepped forward and released her attack, "Silencio!"
